“If anything, we’ve been reminded through the lockdown that we were all conditioned a certain way. Since then, we’ve realized that we can be unconditioned and reconditioned to imbibe new things and ways.
We are built for relationships and often feel we need a physical community. And that, though fair enough, is a conditioning in itself.
However, we have to prepare for the times when the physical communities and gatherings will be super scarce and inaccessible, when we won’t even have internet and access to the joys that technology gives us to connect. When we’ll have to really work our faith to believe (that regardless of lack of physical or digital churches and the inability for the body of Christ to gather); that God’s Word remains and won’t pass away. That time is coming and is not too far away from now.
What I’m sure God is doing is surgery on all our hearts and building our individual “personal” relation with Him. He’s getting the body of Christ to the point where we understand that Jesus is the head and we’re individually connected to Him, not necessarily physically or digitally to ourselves.”
I sensed and wrote all of the above on the 4th June, 2020 at about 10pm to a friend. Wasn’t even sure if I was sensing right but all the while believing that God moves me, I carried on with life.
On the morning of the 5th, as I was “sleepily” reading scripture from my daily devotional, I remembered what I wrote and asked a rhetorical question, “or was I just yarning balls”?
Almost immediately after I came upon these verses in Hebrew 8 which are from Jeremiah 31 and the sleep cleared expeditiously!
“This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” — Hebrews 8:10-12 NIV; Jeremiah 31:31-34 NIV
I’ve since been awake… well I eventually slept after sunrise on the morning of the 6th.
