We’re All Accountants.

We inspire and are inspired by people, things, places, experiences, circumstances… whether we know it or not.

As the inspirer or inspired, we’ve got to pay attention to our inspirations’ source. Where do they stem from? What’s their root? What foundations have they been built on? Because often times than not, they stem from something/someplace/someone skewed.

Meaning we’d be speaking, deciding, acting, reacting, thinking, creating, breathing, living, relating… our entire existence will be from said skewed source, stem or foundation; transmitting that skewed nature to those we inspire, or receiving that skewed nature from those who inspire us; and ultimately adding our part to the quota of “people misled”.

When I look back at my former life, I see trails and trails of being misled and thus misleading others as I lived, created and related. I definitely knew about motives, but I hadn’t come into the understanding that sources need to be checked. I’d literally say, whenever I was asked about what inspired me, that “I wish I could have an out of body experience and step into another ether or realm to see where I pull inspiration from, because I know it’s definitely divine and I’m downloading from somewhere…”.

Sigh! Definitely somewhere unpleasing to God now that I think about it. Having being misled myself at the time, I see how intentional I was to mislead others when I’d write songs specifically aimed at inspiring sexual urges and impurity, lack of self love, heartache, heartbreak, bogus boastfulness, vengefulness, jealousy, hatred, discord… name it!;

Sigh! And I just stop to thank God for how far He’s brought me completely out of that life and into a mind renewing, spirit transforming, purposeful life of being a living sacrifice, truly worshipping; with intentions only aimed at seeking out and submitting to His pleasing, perfect will. And it’s not by my power or might. But by His Spirit.

And so I urge us all to trail and trace back on our lives. And if our findings show that my sensing through the Spirit is right about where our inspirations stem from, then we’ve got to ask for His help to nip them not just in their buds, but uproot them from their sources, roots and foundations.

So that we can start to live, create, relate, inspire and be inspired from a place of love, transformation, renewal and refinement, purity, joy, peace, hope forgiveness and all things good according to God. And ultimately add our part to the quota of people saved and led.

Because know it or not, like it or not, we are responsible and accountable for others, just as others are responsible and accountable for us. And it doesn’t matter if we’re related or not, friends or enemies. It doesn’t matter if we’ve had direct contact or not. We are all connected.

This, I believe, is part of the things we’d need to give account on when we eventually meet our maker.

“When virtue is stored within, the hearts of good and upright people will produce good fruit. But when evil is hidden within, those who are evil will produce evil fruit. You can be sure of this: when the day of judgment comes, everyone will be held accountable for every careless word he has spoken. Your very words will be used as evidence against you, and your words will declare you either innocent or guilty.” — Matthew 12:35-37 TPT
