So check this out.
Most, if not all of us, depend on the media to keep us informed. I mean it’s basic knowledge right? Right? So The various Social Media Platforms, News Channels, E, ESPN, Africa Magic, Music, Movies, Reality Tv, Nat Geo, Cartoon Network, Radio, Newspapers, Magazines, etc…

Media is defined as a means of mass communication and in Latin, literally means ‘middle’, neuter of medius. Media originally denotes something intermediate in nature or degree, which entails coming between two things in time, place, character, etc – late 16th century.
While having all this history and meaning attached to it, media also happens to be the plural of “Medium”. Obviously 🙄 right? Right?
May I just point us to what God says about mediums in The Bible? Okay! Now peep these.
“Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.” — Leviticus 19:31 NIV
“I will also turn against those who commit spiritual prostitution by putting their trust in mediums or in those who consult the spirits of the dead. I will cut them off from the community.” — Leviticus 20:6 NLT
“Men and women among you who act as mediums or who consult the spirits of the dead must be put to death by stoning. They are guilty of a capital offense.” — Leviticus 20:27 NLT
“Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn’t people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?” — Isaiah 8:19 NLT
“So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord. He failed to obey the Lord’s command, and he even consulted a medium instead of asking the Lord for guidance. So the Lord killed him and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.” — 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 NLT
“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. It is because the other nations have done these detestable things that the Lord your God will drive them out ahead of you. But you must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you are about to displace consult sorcerers and fortune-tellers, but the Lord your God forbids you to do such things.” — Deuteronomy 18:9-14 NLT
Now think about the reality that these various media platforms are being accessed on our mobile devices.
🤯😯😳 Wow right? Right?!!
I didn’t make this up. I mean, there’s just got to be something wrong with the foundations we stayed on that’s resulted in us getting us to the point we’re at. And I’m not just talking about a family, tribe, society, region, state or continent… I’m talking about the entire world. Let’s face it. It looks messed up right now.
I reckon that just like with the story Jesus tells us in Luke 16:19-31, of “The Rich Man and Lazarus”; if those who’ve died/transitioned ahead of us had the chance to whisper some advice to the living, they’d want to tell us to think again about how we view life, what we base our beliefs and values on, the things that inform our behaviours, decisions, actions, reactions…
“So the rich man said, ‘Then let me ask you, Father Abraham, to please send Lazarus to my relatives. Tell him to witness to my five brothers and warn them not to end up where I am in this place of torment.’ “ Abraham replied, ‘They’ve already had enough warning. They have the teachings of Moses and the prophets, and they must obey them.’ “ ‘But what if they’re not listening?’ the rich man added. ‘If someone from the dead were to go and warn them, they would surely repent.’ “Abraham said to him, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither would they believe even if someone was raised from the dead!’ ” — Luke 16:27-31 TPT
It’s safe to say that literally, figuratively and biblically speaking, media comes between God and us.
Having done a little bit of analysis, I’ve got a few questions:
- Are we listening to the teachings in The Bible?
- Are we more triggered by what media says than we are about God’s Word?
- Are you questioning all you’ve always known to be your standard-ometer? I know I do.
I’ll go right ahead and conclude by saying that once I hit rock bottom, the moment I began to take my focus off of media and various informants I’d based my life on; the moment I decided to start keeping my eyes stayed on God — Who by the way, is “The Solid Rock”! Get it? rock bottom vs The Solid Rock!? I know right?!! I just had to through that in there 😂🤦🏾♀️ Anyways, moving on! — and His Word, by the prompting and power of The Holy Spirit; my life that seemingly came to an end truly began. I’m also going to add that it’s so interesting how I thought I had to hold on to my former life for as long as I did.
“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.” — Psalms 34:4-7 NLT
We have life so we have some time, though not so much. We have The Word so we can heed it… It is my hope that we become fully weaned off our focus on any and everything that isn’t God and place it right back… rather up, on Him.
